Mary Jane Stensland, 90, of Red Wing, died Monday, March 10, 2025, at her home. She was born on February 12, 1935, in Menomonie, WI to Harry and Ethel Benson. She graduated from high school. For a number of years, she worked at St. John’s Hospital in Red Wing as a nursing assistant and then was a home health aide for Goodhue County. On May 3, 1958, she was united in marriage to Gerald Stensland at United Lutheran Church.
Mary was an active and dedicated member of United Lutheran Church, serving on the quilting group and for many years coordinated the lunches for funerals. She enjoyed bird watching and going to the cabin near Cumberland in her early years.
Mary is survived by her three children, Wes Stensland of Nelson, WI, Mike (Sherri) Stensland of International Falls and Diane (Doug) Tembreull of Red Wing; one grandson, Derek (Nicole Vogel) Tembreull of Red Wing, along with nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald in 2021, and on brother, Gary Benson.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
