Mary K. Scott, age 88, of Mazeppa died on Monday, June 25, 2007 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, June 29, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Father Robert G. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military honors provided by American Legion Post #588 of Mazeppa. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 28, 2007 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mary Kathryn Majerus was born on June 29, 1918 in Belvidere Township, Goodhue County, MN to Charles & Marie (nee Hofschulte) Majerus. During her childhood Mary and her family lived in the surrounding area and she attended school in Bellechester. On August 30, 1943 she entered the U.S. Army WAC. Mary served as a Military Policeman and was honorably discharged on January 15, 1946. She returned to Mazeppa and on October 20, 1947 she married Arthur L. Scott in Mazeppa. They owned and operated a bar in Mazeppa for several years before moving to the Twin Cities area. Mary worked as a waitress at the Coachman Restaurant for many years. Arthur died in 1981 and Mary moved back to Mazeppa to care for her mother Marie. Mary was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #588 in Mazeppa. Mary enjoyed bird watching, yard work and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
Mary is survived by her sister, Mary Ann (Harlow) Wilke of Louisville, Co, sisters in law, Pauline Hammes of Zumbrota and Shirley Hammes of Rochester, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Majerus and Anna Langer, six brothers, Martin Majerus, Lawrence, Bill, Fritz, Joe and Richard Hammes. Casketbearers are Courtney & Stephanie Hammes, Ryan & Sarah Meyer and Ashley & Andrea Mathison.
