Mary (Koranda) Phillips

Mary Rae Phillips, 60, of Red Wing, died Monday, March 15, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born November 27, 1960, in Wadena, MN to Glen and Verna (Ostlund) Koranda.  Her family moved to Red Wing and she graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1979 and went on to receive her associate’s degree from the Red Wing Vo- Tech.  On August 23, 1980, she was united in marriage to Terry Phillips at Concordia Lutheran Church.  For many years, she worked at Red Wing Corner Drug Store and then at United Lutheran Church as a secretary.  Mary enjoyed reading, doing crafts and was especially fond of making baby hats.  Throughout the years, she loved watching her children play sports and just being with her family.  She held a special place in her heart for her cats she lovingly referred to as her “fur babies”.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Terry of Red Wing; children, Jennifer (Brandon) Vickers, Amanda (Dan) Geary, Jeffrey (Miranda) Phillips and Amber (Cody) Baker and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe and Steve Koranda and a sister, Ruth Ann Koranda.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Justin Boeding officiating.   The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.  A walk-through visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 19 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Masks and social distancing required at all services.
