Mary I Macioch, 94 passed away surrounded by family, Sunday November 1, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Health System Care Center, Lake City. She was originally from the Twin Cities. Mary was born September 23, 1921 in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Ernest Hjalmer and Mary Barbara (Pince) Olson. She married William F. Macioch on November 10, 1945 in Webster, South Dakota. They lived and worked in St. Paul until William's death in July of 2002. She then moved to Lake City to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. Mary worked for Montgomery Ward for 38 years in administration. Mary loved spending time with her family and friends, baking sweet treats and delicious meals. She was an avid golfer and bowler, enjoyed reading and winning at bingo with her friends. Mary also enjoyed going to the Casino, shopping and loved shoes.
Mary is survived by daughter Kathleen Ann (Macioch) Durand, son-in-law Eugene (Gene), Step daughter-in-law Rose Macioch of North St. Paul. Grandchildren: Stephanie Atkinson of Owatonna, Chad (Kerri) Durand of Richfield, Amanda Durand of Lake City. Step Grandchildren: Cathy (Todd) Borowicz of Vadnis Heights, Debbie Tower of Goodyear Arizona. Great Grandchildren: Cassandra Atkinson, Christopher Atkinson, Ava Durand, Noah Durand. Step Great Grand Children: Brandon Borowicz, Tyler Borowicz, Mallory Tower, Jordan Tower. Siblings: Dorothy Nicholson (Nick) of Texas, Barbara Peone of Montana, Louis Olson (June) of California, Delores Olson of California.
Proceeded in death by: Husband William Macioch (2002), Step-Son William Macioch Jr., parents, brothers: Francis, Robert, Ernest, Eugene and sisters: Carole, Helen and step-grandson, Shawn Tower.
A Mass and Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 7 at Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Joseph Pete officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers are Stephanie Atkinson, Cathy Borowitz, Todd Borowitz, Amanda Durand, Chad Durand and Debbie Tower. Family prefers, in lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church Building Fund, or Mayo Clinic Health System Care Center Lake City.
