Mary Jane Flynn, age 77, of Prairie Island, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at United Hospital in St. Paul. She was born on September 13, 1930, in Red Wing, to Floyd and Irene (Steffens) Truman. She was a 1949 graduate of Red Wing Central High School and worked for Red Wing Shoe Company until 1957. On September 13, 1957, she was married to Donald Flynn and they farmed on Prairie Island for many years. He died on September 10, 2004. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Guild; and Prairie Island Birthday Club. She enjoyed playing piano, her grandchildren, and baking. Everyone loved her chocolate cake. She was an avid outdoors person and a loving wife and mother.
Survivors include four children, Lily Marie (David) Myers of Etter, Floyd and Carl "Ole" Flynn of Prairie Island, and Irene (Mark) Lambert of Stillwater; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; and two brothers, Charles and Allen Truman.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be in Prairie Island Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Floyd and Carl Flynn, Nathan, Russell and David Myers and Mark Lambert. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
