Mary C. Holst

Mary Christine Holst, 78, of Red Wing, died Friday, March 6, 2015 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born August 9, 1936 in Pierce County, Wisconsin, to Harry and Irene (Owre) Cook. She grew up, attended school and lived in the Red Wing area her entire life. She was united in marriage to Carl H. Holst on February 23, 1957. She had worked at Larry's Broiler and at the Red Wing Hospital and also volunteered at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Mary loved being outside in her flowers, she loved all animals, especially her dog, Molly, and she loved playing with little children and seeing her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by 3 children, Craig (Luann) Holst of Zumbrota, Kim (Shawn) Murphy of Red Wing and Brian (Trisha) Holst of Elmore, MN; 9 grandchildren, Barry, Cayla, Max, Cody, Breana, Mike, Jesseca, Joshua and Aleesha and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in August of 2010 and her siblings, Dorothy Larson, Earl Cook, Allie Cook, Pat Brunkhorst and Harry Cook.
Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with a visitation two hours prior to the service. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Lake City at a later date.
