Mary L. Hewston-Stanton

Mary Hewson-Stanton (White), 74, of Red Wing, formerly of Minneapolis, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was born September 9, 1941, in Minneapolis, to Ralph and Margorie (Murphy) White. She graduated from high school at Holy Angels Academy and went on to attend Creighton University. She married Peter Dell and they moved to Chicago. Together they had three sons and later divorced. She returned to Minnesota and in 1970, married Thomas Hewson. They were married 35 years before his passing in 2005. Mary was a long-time employee of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. In 2009 she met her future husband, Lenny, and moved to Red Wing to be with him. They were united in marriage on Feb. 20, 2013. Together they loved going up north, planning camping trips and just being together. Mary was a warm, kind person with a wonderful sense of humor-she was often the life of the party, always up-beat and fun-loving and children adored her. She was also a long-time friend of "Bill W."
Mary is survived by her husband Lenny; 3 sons, John (Laura) Dell, Matthew (Lisa) Dell and Steven (Shellie) Dell; 5 grandchildren, Jeffery, Allison, Nathan, Luke and Kyle and siblings, Janet White Phelan, John (Pat) White and Bill (Mary) White and sister-in-law, Helen White. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ralph Jr. and James White.
A Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 with visitation one hour prior at Incarnation Church, 3817 Pleasant Ave, Minneapolis.
