Mary J. Hermann died peacefully at Rochester East Health Services on December 13, 2022. Mary turned 90 in September of this year.
Mary Janice Grimm was born on September 12, 1932, to Adolph and Lillian (Lexvold) Grimm and was a lifelong resident of Zumbrota. Mary met Dennis L. Hermann her senior year of high school and they were inseparable, both graduating in 1950. Mary and Dennis were married on January 6, 1951, at Lands Lutheran Church. After living in Alabama while Dennis was in the service, the couple spent the rest of their lives in Zumbrota. Much of their life was “on the farm” south of Zumbrota.
Mary was known for cooking and baking. After Dennis’ death in 2005, she devoted herself to her family history project producing 3 ring binders for family members on the history of the Lexvold and Grimm families – all of this before the Internet was the resource that it is today.
Mary and Dennis have four children: Linda Ernst, Teri (David) Russell, Judy (Dana) Hoffbeck, and Jim Hermann. All live in the Zumbrota/Rochester area. Mary has 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mary’s beloved sisters are Jane (Darrell) Post and Alice (Kenneth) Lother.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis and her sister, Lorraine.
A small service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 as per the family’s wishes.
The family would appreciate it if you would choose to honor Mary by contributing to your favorite charity.
Arrangements made by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel.
