Mary Louise Hanson

Mary Louise Hanson, 71, of Rochester formerly of Red Wing, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at Golden Living Center-Rochester West. She was born in LaCrosse, Wis. on January 10, 1946 to Clarence and Luella (Semke) Ekern. She graduated in 1964 from Aquinas High School in LaCrosse. Following high school she attended nurse's training school at St. Mary's in Rochester. She married Milo Hanson on October 19, 1968 in Rochester. They lived in Chatfield and in 1985 they moved to Red Wing. Mary worked as a LPN in Chatfield, at Vasa Children's Home, Red Wing nursing homes, and REM. For the past two years she has resided at Golden Living Center-Rochester West. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph where she taught religion classes. Mary was also a Cub Scout leader when her children were young. Mary found great enjoyment in flower gardening, going for drives, loved caring for her residents and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband, Milo; six children, Michael (Fran) Hanson of Farmington, Bill Hanson of Burnsville, Eric (Stacy) Hanson of Harlan, Iowa, Mark (Cassi) Hanson of Cannon Falls, Andy (Nicole) Hanson of Great Falls, Montana, and Katie (Chris) Robinson of Ellsworth, Wis.; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild with one more arriving in September; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Gloria Ekern and Judi Piepho.
Mass of Resurrection will be at 1:30 p.m. , Saturday, July 29, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Burial will be at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery in Red Wing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Bodelson Mahn Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
