Mary Ellen Flynn

Mary Ellen Flynn, 94, of Prairie Island, died Monday December 14, 2015 at the Seminary Home. She was born on August 14, 1921 in Hastings to Richard and Etta (Sutton) Johnson. She graduated from Hastings High School and on April 23, 1943 she married Earl R. Flynn. They lived at Prairie Island for many years. Earl died on August 15, 1992. She was an active member of the Church of the Messiah where she played the organ for many years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, reading, birdwatching and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Mike (Shirley) Flynn of Frontenac, Barb (Mike) Wiley of Welch, Charles (Barb) Flynn of Welch, Loren (Donna) Flynn of Hastings, Paul (Linda) Flynn of Balsam Lake, Bruce Flynn of Welch, Gary ( Jean) Flynn of Welch, Stanley (Sue) Flynn of Ellsworth and Arlene Childs of Welch; son-in-law, Dean Kinneman of Hager City, many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Rosemary Kinneman; one grandson, Todd Wiley; daughter-in-law, Marge Flynn and one son-in-law, Dale Childs.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 18 at the Prairie Island Community Center. Burial will be at the Prairie Island Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 17 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the Community Center for one hour prior to the service on Friday. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of Mary Ellen's caregivers from Mayo Red Wing Hospice, St. Brigid's at Hi-Park and the Seminary Home.
