Mary Gertrude Felmlee

Mary Gertrude Felmlee, 82, of Red Wing, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was born November 14, 1934 in Le Sueur, Minnesota, to Frank and Anne (Nuessbaumer) Pfarr and graduated from high school there in 1953. She attended college at St. Mary's in Minneapolis for nurses training. On July 2, 1955, she was united in marriage to Donald Felmlee at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur and they made their home in Red Wing. Mary worked as a nurse at the Interstate Medical Center and Saint John's Hospital for 32 years until her retirement. She was an active member of the Church of St. Joseph, where she helped coordinate funeral lunches for many years. She also was a member of the Golden K's and volunteered at the local food shelf--having served as president; Faith in Action and the Red Wing Area Senior Center. In Mary's free time, she enjoyed quilting, and had made special quilts for all 12 of her grandchildren; keeping busy outside-be it gardening, tending to the lawn or landscaping and most of all, she cherished time with her family.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 61 years, Don, of Red Wing; 4 children, Michelle Weisen of Red Wing, Michael (Jane) Felmlee of Chanhassen, Joel (Petrona Melgarejo) Felmlee of Rochester and Donna (Dan) Devine of Rochester; 12 grandchildren, Ian (Ashley) Hotchkiss, Lauren (Eric) Titze, Jeff, Charlie (Kelli), Joseph (Lauren), John (Tricia), Steve, Ben, Sarah and Matthew Felmlee and Megan and Abby Devine; 5 great-grandchildren, Edward, Andrew, George, Edith and Saiah Felmlee; daughter-in-law, Terri Felmlee of Rochester; 3 siblings, Rita (Pat) Hix of St. Peter, LeRoy (Diane) Pfarr of Le Sueur and Monica (Ray) Bratsch of Tyron, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Thomas and a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Bonnie Pfarr.

Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Kiwanis Eliminate or donor's choice.
