Mary Eileen Elms, 62, of Red Wing, died Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester.
She was born August 12, 1961, in Lake City to Dennis and Helen Elms. She grew up in the Lake City and Red Wing area, attending Lincoln High School. After school she went on to work various jobs. She had her daughter, Jamie, in 1980.
Mary was a feisty, headstrong, and independent woman who was ready to support her family however possible. She loved being a grandmother to her only granddaughter, Tesia. She enjoyed taking her shopping and eating out, specifically at the Red Lobster (because Mary loved a good deal) but most of all she enjoyed just sitting and talking with Tesia. In her free time, Mary enjoyed going to the beach, spending time out on the boat, and doing a little bit of fishing.
She will be deeply missed by her family; daughter, Jamie Heineman, (Sheena) and granddaughter, Tesia Heineman, both of Red Wing; siblings, Judy Hielscher and Thomas Elms of Lake City; as well as her nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Elms, and her parents.
A celebration of life will be held on March 23, 2024, from 1:00 to 7:00 at the Izaak Walton Clubhouse League 1010 E. 5th St in Red Wing. She will be later laid to rest at St. Patrick’s in West Albany. If you are unable to attend and would still like to send a card you can send it to Jamie Heineman at 2205 Bush Street, Red Wing MN 55066.
