Mary Ellen Blim

Mary Ellen Blim, 89, of Red Wing, died Saturday, February 25, 2017, at her home at St. Crispin Living Community, Hi-Park Villa. She was born on March 5, 1927, in Minneapolis to Sidney and Ellen Mary (Appenzeller) Lindstrom. She attended schools in Red Wing and on September 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Anthony "Tony" Blim at the Church of St. Joseph. They lived in Wabasha and Rochester for many years before moving to Red Wing. Tony died in 1971. She worked at St. Joseph's school and Burnside school as a cook retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Church of St. Joseph. Her family recalls her love for baking cookies and bars, dancing and taking trips.

She is survived by five children, Kathleen Ekern of Viroqua, Wis., Therese Blim, Paul Blim, and Margaret (Kevin) Simanski all of Red Wing and John (Laura) Blim of Nacona Tex.; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald "Sid" (Lynette) Lindstrom and Richard "Buzz" (Marion) Lindstrom all of Red Wing and one sister, Lois Anderson of Huntington Beach, Calf. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, Steven Ekern; infant sister, Joan; three brothers, John, Franklin "Putter" and Raymond Lindstrom; one great granddaughter, Kenzie Simanski and son-in-law, Marvin "Marty" Ekern.

Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Robert Meyer presiding. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Church of St. Joseph. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the employees at St. Crispin Villa for their wonderful care given to Mary Ellen since August 2015.
