Mary Beth Olson, 56, of Red Wing died at her home on Thursday, June 8, 2017, following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Red Wing on March 27, 1961 to Robert and Rita (Stoffel) Zignego. She attended school at Saint Joseph's Catholic School and Red Wing High School where she graduated in 1979. She continued her education at the Rochester Vocational Technical College and became a Dental Assistant. She married Steven Olson on July 13, 1985, in Red Wing at the Church of Saint Joseph. She went on to work at several local dental offices as a dental assistant and most recently worked at Red Wing Publishing. Mary enjoyed volunteering throughout her life, most recently at the Care Clinic. Mary loved spending time at the cabin, attending her book club, and being with her family and friends. She will be remembered for always thinking of others, her constant positivity, and calmness.
Mary is survived by her husband, Steve; two children, Elizabeth Olson (Jason) of New Hope and Oliver Olson of Red Wing; her parents, Robert and Rita Zignego of Red Wing; five siblings, Kimberly (Bart) Samuelson of Hastings, Tamra Caneff of Red Wing, Jane (Jim) Roper of Red Wing, Joseph (Sally) Zignego of Goodhue and Molly (Dave) St. Denis of Hastings; many nieces and nephews; her mother in law, Ruth Olson of Red Wing and her family's black lab puppy, Piper.
Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the Church of Saint Joseph with Father Roger Hessian officiating. Burial will at the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Red Wing Youth Outreach or donor's choice.
