Mary Jean Barringer, 88, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at the Mayo Clinic Health System, Red Wing. She was born May 8, 1931, in Red Wing, to Alfred and Mary (Nelson) Buck. She grew up in the Red Wing area and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1949. On Oct. 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to David Barringer. Mary Jean was employed at Red Wing Pottery for ten years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She volunteered for Animal Allies and enjoyed flowers and gardening.
She is survived by her son, Glen (Carrie Jane) Barringer of Red Wing; granddaughters, Whitney (Alex) Windschitl of Comfrey and Ann (Kris) Elsbury of Houston, TX; 2 great-grandchildren, Topher and Tristan Elsbury; 2 brothers, Willis (Marge Deden) Buck of Red Wing and Donald Buck of Hastings; a nephew, David Buck and niece, Amy (Jared) Torstveit and a great-nephew, Gilly Torstveit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; sister-in-law, Donna Buck and sister, Toni Ruble.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 23, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Rev. Dana Jackson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.
