Marvin Bond, 95, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. He was born February 7, 1914 to Baseman and Lula (Beaver) Bond. He attended schools in New Sharon, Iowa. He married Edna Rowley on November 27, 1935 in Estherville, Iowa. He drove truck for Webster Trucking and Hap Dingman Trucking out of Jackson, Minnesota hauling livestock. He was an operating engineer for many years. In 1962 they moved to Red Wing. They enjoyed traveling to Alaska, the west coast, and the southern United States.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; six children, Maxine Garber of Jackson, Gordon "Bill" (Rosemary) Bond of Waite Park, Richard Bond of Hastings, Catherine (Dale) Kuhl of Red Wing, Mark (Rebecca) Bond of Pardeeville, Wisconsin, and Bradley Bond of Madison, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law Joan Bond of Bloomington; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, David; four brothers, and three sisters.
Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with Dar Reeck officiating. Private burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
