Marvin Kenneth Beck age 76 of Lake City died Monday, July 24, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha. Marvin was born June 27, 1930 in Lake City to Emil & Helen (Klein) Beck. He grew up in Millville and worked for farmers in the area. He joined the Army in 1953, he served during the Korean War and was discharged in 1956. He still served in the Army Reserves until 1961. He married Shirley Ann Halpaus July 5, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Lake City, where he worked at A.E. Goetz in Lake City until retiring in 1994. His wife Shirley died March 8, 1998. He was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Lake City and VFW Post #8729 of Lake City. He is survived by two sons, Marvin Jr. (Ruth) Beck of Maple Plain, MN, Randy Beck of Red Wing; four grandchildren Michael, Matt, Katie, Kevin; one great granddaughter, Mia Beck; one sister, Jeanette Danckwart of Lake City; two brothers, Myron (Jean) of Stockton, MN, John ?Jack? of Aurora, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Scott Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in St. John?s Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church. Military rites will be conducted by Lake City VFW Post 8729 and American Legion Post 110.
