Marvin "Barry" LeRoy Baringer, 78, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at his home. He was born September 15, 1931 in Red Wing to Albert and Ethel (Olander) Baringer. He attended schools in Red Wing. Barry married Jean Anderson on December 30, 1950 in Red Wing. He was employed by Red Wing Shoe Co. for over 40 years as a semi-driver until his retirement in 1992. He loved music, camping, playing cards, dancing, and playing the guitar, banjo, and organ. He also enjoyed visiting with family, friends and neighbors. He was a member of First Covenant Church, Teamsters, the National Guard, and the Army from 1950-1952.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; two sons, Kip Baringer of Mankato and Kevin Baringer of Red Wing; daughter, Darla Fulton of Red Wing; grandson, Nicholas Fulton of Red Wing; sister, Darlene (Leo) Goulette of Ellsworth; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Baringer of Red Wing, Joan (Clint) Kind of Mankato, and Arlene Anderson of Ellsworth, and brother-in-law Eldon Johnson of Ellsworth. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Wally Baringer, and sister Verona Johnson.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at First Covenant Church with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or First Covenant Church.
