Martin Charles Schultz

Martin C. Schultz, age 82, of Wabasha, formerly on Mazeppa, died on Monday, October 16, 2017 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Wabasha. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at Mahn Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota with Pastor Hannah Bergstrom de Leon officiating. The visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery with Military Honors.
Martin Charles Schultz was born on December 23, 1934 to Frank and Pearl (Fetzer) Schultz on the family farm in Theilman. He attended Hammond country school and began working on the farm soon after. Martin entered the United States Army on July 25, 1957 and was honorably discharged on July 24, 1959. On August 20, 1960 Martin married LaVonne Lorenz at St. John's Lutheran Church - Bear Valley. Together they made their home in Mazeppa where they had seven children. Martin worked at Pine Plating in Pine Island and retired after 30 years, at that time known as D.S. Manufacturing.
Martin enjoyed all things farming, working with the cattle and horses; he enjoyed playing cards, growing and selling vegetables, fishing and spending time with his family.
Martin is survived by his five children, son, Dennis (Mary) Riege of Aurora, Co; daughters, Wanda and Sue Schultz both of Wabasha; Charlene (Jerry) Sexton of Stewartville; son, Paul (Ginny) Schultz of Rochester; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Charles) Weick of Mazeppa; brother, Walt (Irene) Schultz of Rochester.
Martin was preceded in death by his loving wife, LaVonne; sons, Gene and Marc Schultz; sisters, Lorraine, Marian, Iola and Dory; and brothers, David, Lloyd, Bob and Marvin.
