Martha Irene Streiff

Martha Irene Streiff, age 95, of Berne (West Concord), died on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. She was born on December 20, 1917, on the Karlen family farm, in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, to John and Amelia (Kessler) Karlen. Martha graduated from Pine Island High School. She married Leon Streiff on September 22, 1939 on her parent's home farm. The couple farmed in the Berne area all their married life. Leon died on July 28, 1985. Martha was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ, attended Adult Sunday School, and was active in circle, and Berne Swissfest. She participated in Berne Mothers' Club. Martha enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, gardening, and reading. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Martha is survived by her sons, Stanley (Jenifer Wilson) Streiff of West Concord; Stuart (Kathryn) Streiff of Owatonna; daughter, Sharon (Richard) Bishop of Harmony; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter; parents; and twelve siblings.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Zwingli United Church of Christ with Reverend Victor Jortack officiating. Burial will be in Berne Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and for one hour prior to the service at the church. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
