Marten E. Dirks age 47 of Rochester passed away July 25, 2013 at REM Home at Northern Hills in Rochester.
Marten was born October 28, 1965 in Houston, TX to Arnold & Etta Mae (Polzin) Dirks. He grew up in Houston and attended Worthington, High School. In 1988 he moved to Rochester, MN. He was employed by ABC and worked in many businesses in the Rochester area. He had a great love for sports and has participated in the Special Olympics for many years. Bowling was one of his favorite events. Along with sports he enjoyed going to work every day to spend time with coworkers and friends.
Marten is survived by his mother. Etta Mae of Lake City; a sister, Carmen (Chris) Paulsen of Cypress, TX; a brother Steven (Diana) Dirks of Houston, TX and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold; paternal grandparents, Cornel & Meta Dirks; maternal grandparents, Frank & Julia Polzin.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Lake City with the Rev. Kristine Marshall officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church Burial will be the Woodlawn cemetery in Stewartville, MN. Memorials are preferred to the family.
