Marshall E. Laidlaw

Marshall Edward Laidlaw, age 93, of Frontenac, died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Lake City Care Center.
He was born June 8, 1922 in St. Louis Park to William and Irma (Ackerman) Laidlaw. He graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1940. He then joined the U.S. Army where he was in the European Theater during WWII. After being honorably discharged he married Patricia Henrikson in St. Louis Park on May 28, 1949. They lived in St. Louis Park for 32 years where Marshall worked at Roto Rooter. In 1981 he retired and they moved to his family's house in Frontenac. Marshall was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac where he was on the council for 28 years and part of the Fellowship Club. He was also a member of the VFW Post 8729 In Lake City. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, fishing, and most of all visiting with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patricia of Frontenac; daughter, Julia Laidlaw of Minneapolis; sons, John (Julie) of Red Wing and Michael (Sue) of Brooklyn Park; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; two great great step grandchildren; brother, William (Alice) of Frontenac. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Debra.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac with Reverend Stephen Kurtzahn officiating. Burial will take place at the Frontenac Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 8729 and American Legion Post 110. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Church. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.
