Marlis Sandra Floen, 85, of Red Wing, died Monday, January 22, 2024 at Potter Ridge. She was born July 7, 1938 in Red Wing to Merle and Rosie (Downey) Baker. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School, class of 1956. She married Robert Floen on May 7, 1960 at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing. Together they raised 4 children. Robert passed away in 1997. She was very proud to work as a legal secretly for Mr. Terwilliger, and as customer service for Ray Johnson Printing and Brashler’s Bakery.
Marlis was called “mom” by all the neighborhood kids while her children were growing up. She was a quilter and she made quilts for everyone. She also crocheted baby afghans and enjoyed sewing.
She is survived by her son, Kevin (Sandra) Floen of Royal Oak, Michigan and daughter, Tara Floen of Red Wing; 7 grandchildren, James Fatis, Tasha Jensen, Robert Schiff, Jeff Seifert, Ashley Lexvold, Samantha Floen and Amanda James; several great-grandchildren and her best friend of 80 years, Marge Stieger of Hastings.
She is preceded in death by son, Colin Floen; daughter, Kimberly Munz; grandson, Jason Hair; sister, Shirley Zemke; brother, Armon Baker; and her parents.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Father Brandon Theisen presiding.
