Marlene Nadeau, 76, of Red Wing, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. She was born July 19, 1934 in Wabasha, Minn. to Luverne and Juliana (Gosse) Furne. She attended St. Felix Catholic School in Wabasha and Red Wing Central High School. On December 25, 1952 she married Howard Nadeau. She worked for many years at Hallstrom's Florist and Greenhouses and at St. Joseph's Catholic School in the kitchen. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the John Ireland Club, and was also a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, doning puzzles, traveling with her family, bird and eagle watching, her cats, and entertaining family and friends at her cottage on Trenton Island, where she also taught many friends and family to waterski.
She is survived by her husband, Howard; two daughters, Debbii (Richard) Roth of Alpharetta, Georgia and Diane (David) Hallstrom of Red Wing; two grandsons, Matt and Christopher (Abigail) Roth; three great-grandchildren, Troy, Jake, and Molly Roth, and a brother, James Furne of Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the St. Brigid's at Hi-Park Chapel with Dar Reeck officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Memorials are preferred to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
