Marlene Busby

Marlene Busby, age 92, passed away at the Zumbrota Care Center on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Marlene Emily Busby was born October 23, 1931, to Oscar and Edith (Hinrichs) Heydmann. She attended country school until 1945 and then completed her education and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1949. On August 25, 1951, Marlene was united in marriage to Harvey Busby at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota.

Marlene started her working career in the office at the Zumbrota Creamery and later transitioned to the office of Dr. Larson where she continued working until 1969 when she and Harvey purchased Busby Hardware and Furniture.

Marlene loved spending time with her family; her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Some of her favorite time was spent growing beautiful flowers in the garden, cooking incredible meals for the family and traveling throughout the United States. She loved the Lord since she was a young girl and that love never wavered in her adult life, being an active member at Christ Lutheran Church.

Marlene is survived by her two sons, Wayne (Blair Larson) Busby of Red Wing, MN and David (Christine Shaler) Busby of Zumbrota; three grandchildren, Ericka (Corey) Atkinson, Katherine (Emmett VanGorp) Busby, Sarah (Robert) Larson; great grandchildren, Amelia, Sylvia, Lydia, Carley, Eloisa, Lillian, Theodore and Graham; sisters-in-law, Verna Anderson, Betty (Leroy) Strusz and brothers-in-law Robert Busby and Richard (Peg) Busby.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey; son, Joel Busby; siblings, Marcella Mielke and William Heydmann.

The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, with Pastor Wayne Schoch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Zumbrota Cemetery. Online condolences are welcome and may be shared at mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
