Marjorie Mae Meacham, 88 of Red Wing, died Friday, December 28, 2012 surrounded by her family at her home in Red Wing. She was born May 9, 1924 in Red Wing, the daughter of William and Edna (Nelson) Burdick. She grew up and attended school in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1942. On June 3, 1948, she was married to Leon Meacham in Iowa. They lived in Ellsworth for three years moving to Red Wing in 1951. Marjorie was employed as a cook for the Red Wing School District for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 60 years, the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, proud union member, and the St. Joseph women's circle. She enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, cooking, bingo, and most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by five children, Nancy (Brian) Scholl of North Mankato, Marianne (Bruce) Yernberg, Terry (Laurie) Meacham and Linda (Thomas) Gade all of Red Wing and Mark (Peggy) Meacham of Goodhue; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; son William; parents; sister Dorothy Theis; and aunts Lillian Nelson and Maime Nelson.
Funeral will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Father Bruce Peterson presiding. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Terry Meacham, Mark Meacham, Nancy Scholl, Reese Meacham, Ross Meacham, Tom Gade Sr., and Brian Scholl.
