Marjorie Anna Holst, 79, Red Wing, died at her home Thursday night. She was born January 11, 1928 in Lake City, Minn, the daughter of George and Alice (Gerken) Dose, Sr. She attended school in Oak Center. She married Willard Rudolph Holst on June 30, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. They lived on their farm in Hay Creek until moving to Red Wing in 1999. She worked at Haven Homes for a few years as a cook. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies' Aid and she was a member of the Goodhue County Extension Homemakers Club "The Hay Creek Hi-Lo's". She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, crossword puzzles, crafts, crocheting and quilting.
Survivors include her husband, Willard of Red Wing; four daughters, Joan Larkin of Anoka, Sharon (Rollin) Larson of Vasa, Sue (Bill) Gorman of Goodhue, and Janelle (Bob) McNamara of Goodhue; two sons, Bruce (Pam) Holst of Goodhue and Craig (Kristine) Holst of Red Wing; fifteen grandchildren: Chris, Kim, Shari, Wayne, Daniel, Joe, Shelli, Lynette, Lisa, Cassie, Russell, Brady, Emily, Kelsey and Kyle; six great-grandchildren: Travis, Eric, Rachel, Ryan,, Jason and Natalie; three brothers, Fritz (Marilyn) Dose of Rochester, Leonard (Marlene) Dose of Longmont, Colorado and Charles (Joyce) Dose of Pine Island; two sisters, Janet (Armond) Yotter of Lake City and Jean Turner of Rochester; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers, Dwain, Henry, George, Jess, James and Lee Dose.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek, with Reverend Lowell Sorenson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Gorman, Wayne and Daniel Larson, Russell McNamara, Brady Holst and Chris Hazelton. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday and on Monday for one hour prior to the service, all at the church.
Memorials are preferred to the church kitchen fund.
