Marjorie R. Harder

Marjorie Ragnild Harder, 96, of Red Wing, died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at the Seminary Home. She was born April 13, 1919, in Red Wing, to Ole and Lydia (Carlson) Hosteland and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1937. Following high school she began working as a secretary at both United Lutheran Church and at the high school. On August 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Marvin Harder at United Lutheran Church. She later began working as a secretary at the Red Wing Public Library, where she worked until her retirement. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, where she had been active throughout the years on the altar guild, choir, as a Sunday school teacher and was a part of the Phoebian and Esther Circles. She also belonged to a sewing club, the couples club and the "old secretaries" group from the high school. For many years she volunteered as a "pink lady" for the Red Wing Hospital Auxiliary. Marge was a great cook and enjoyed entertaining, she also spent time sewing, gardening, being outdoors and she and Marvin loved traveling. Marvin died September 23, 2003.

She is survived by her sister, Blanche Hosteland of Red Wing; brother, Raymond Hosteland of Wheaton, Ill. and many close nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; brother, Leslie Hosteland and an infant daughter, Faith Ann.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016, at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Karl Rydholm officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church in Memory of Marge or donor's choice.
