Marjorie Juanita Gustafson, age 99, of Red Wing died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Seminary Home. She was born on March 25, 1916 in Red Wing to Stanley and Hilma (Nordeen) Peake. She grew up and attended school in Bay City, WI. Marjorie married Kenneth Gustafson on June 30, 1939 and they made their home in Red Wing, where they raised their family. She was a seamstress and made many clothes, toys and other crafts. Marjorie worked part time at Spurgeon's, Haven Homes, Revior Studio and Munson Printing. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was active in women's groups, altar guild, quilting group, and was a Sunday school helper for 42 years. She was also a den mother for Cub Scouts, a leader for Girl Scouts and had received the LAMB award through church and the scouts. As a young girl, she was active in Pierce County 4-H. Most of all, she cared greatly for her family and children.
Marjorie is survived by her three children, Pamela (David) Hallahan, Randall (Andrea) Gustafson, and Kathleen (David Stone) Gustafson, all of Red Wing; two granddaughters, Danielle (Nat) Gustafson-Sundell and Tracy Guerrero; three step-grandchildren, Todd Hallahan, Tamara Nepstad, and Christopher Spiritstone; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Larson of Red Wing; nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents; brother, David Peake; sister, Phyllis Funk; and half-sister, Violet Hall.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015, at First Lutheran Church with Reverends Bill Odermann and Jack Norgaard officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church's Gustafson Garden or Children's Program or the Mississippi Shuffle (ACS).
