Marion Miller
Marion Miller, age 84, of Lake City, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born on May 4, 1926 in Maiden Rock to Arthur and Celean (Knapp) Hygnstrom. Marion graduated from Maiden Rock High School and then married Lester Roper on July 15, 1944. They moved to Lake City where Marion was involved with all of her children's activities including being a campfire leader. Lester died in September of 1966. She married Eldon Miller on November 15, 1974 at St. Maryâ?TMs Catholic Church. The two enjoyed traveling together and have been to every state but Hawaii. Marion was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she took part of the mission sewing group. She enjoyed golfing, crocheting, cross-stitching, and rosemaling.
She is survived by her husband Eldon of Lake City; daughter, Sandra (Robert) Walker of Lake City; daughter-in-law, Celeste Roper of Lake City; four grandchildren, Rebecca Weist, David Roper, Daniel Walker, and Christine Quist; eight great-grandchildren; sister Audrey Laue of Balsam Lake, WI; two brothers Edward Hygnstrom of Maiden Rock, WI and Andrew Hygnstrom of Harlingen, TX; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her first husband Lester Roper and son, Jerry Roper.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Richard Dernek officiating. Burial will take place at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
