Marilyn I. Richter age 77 of Zumbrota died on Friday, June 21, 2008 at the Zumbrota Health Services. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, July 25, 2008 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. A private family graveside will be held at Land Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Marilyn Idella Weis was born on June 13, 1931 in Milton Township, Dodge County, MN to John and Sylvia (nee Bakke) Weis. She grew up in rural Goodhue County, attended country school and Zumbrota High School. She moved to Red Wing and in 1951 she married Earl Richter. They were later divorced. Marilyn worked as an inspector for the Red Wing Shoe Company for twenty six years, retiring in 1993. In 1999 she moved to Zumbrota. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, crocheting, and feeding the birds. Marilyn is survived by five daughters, Mary (Steve) Grote and Cathy Striemer, Diane (Brian) Richter-Biwer, and Rita (Bruce Matthees) Gadient, all of Zumbrota, Teresa (Tom) Gadient of Red Wing, two sons, Michael (Nancy) Richter and David (Roberta Erie) Richter, both of Red Wing, grandchildren, Nicole Grote, Jessica Gadient, Matthew Perry, Breanna and Brittany Gadient, Katelyn and Morgan Richter, brother, Russell Weis of Zumbrota and sister, Phyllis (Jim) Buehler of West Concord. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Johnell Buck. The family suggests memorials to Heartland Hospice.
