Marilyn Rose Andrist, Trelstad, Goff was born September 7, 1930 in Milton Township, Dodge County. She was the first child to Ned and Hulda (Budenski) Andrist. In 1941 the family moved to Pleasant Valley in Roscoe Township where she finished her grade school education. She went on to high school at Pine Island, driving the old Ford pickup, picking up children on the way. She married Lester Trelstad in 1950 and had one son, Ron. They later divorced. She had various jobs throughout her life; housekeeper for her uncles and cook and waitress at the Rainbow Cafe in Pine Island where she met D. Alfred Goff and was married on March 25, 1969. Together they started dairy farming; her pride and joy were her Brown Swiss. Al was hired as a construction foreman where Marilyn joined him on the jobsite; there her job was to run the winch that carried materials up the side of the elevator. The next chapter in her life involved driving semi, hauling lumber from the west coast all over the U.S; she loved telling stories about her adventures on the road. Marilyn gave up driving truck so she could take care of her mother when her mother got sick, Al joined her on the farm and they went back to milking cows. She enjoyed helping many young 4H members get their cattle ready for the fair. She made her home in Pleasant Valley until she entered Pine Haven Nursing Home. Marilyn belonged to the Zumbro Thrasher’s Association, she was the secretary of that group for17 years, she was also an accomplished engineer and fireman and the first woman in Minnesota to get her steam engine license. Marilyn touched so many lives with her crochet items, her friendship, and her knowledge of country living.
She is survived by her son Ron (Carol) Trelstad of West Concord; step-daughters, Jane Harrington, Brenda Goff, and Beverly Joslin; 2 grandchildren Leon (Michelle) Trelstad, and Patrick (Rebecca) Trelstad; , and 3 step-grandchildren.
