Marilyn Rose Frost

August 18, 1936 — November 8, 2019

Marilyn Rose Frost, 83, resident of Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 8, 2019.
Marilyn was born on August 18, 1936 in Eyota Township, Olmsted County to Arthur Herman Bierbaum and Magdalena Lydia Hammel. She grew up on the family farm in Viola Township and attended country school. She graduated Eyota High School, the salutatorian of her class in 1954. She attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI. for one year. Saint Paul's United Church of Christ was Marilyn's church home for baptism, confirmation and marriage. On May 5, 1956 she married Harold Sydney Frost and the couple made their home on the farm in rural Pine Island. In 1967 the family moved to the Frost home farm, their century farm established in 1855, where they farmed, raised their family and Registered Holsteins. After her husband's death, she moved to Byron, where she resided nearly 20 years. In December 2016, Pine Haven Care Center became her home and community.
Marilyn's love for her husband, and the land they cultivated, was of utmost importance. She cared for the calves in the early years, and cared for Harold at the farm, the last few years. Her children were her greatest source of pride and joy, beginning with Bob, their firstborn, special needs son. Kristi, Shari and Michael were supported in their educational endeavors, 4-H and FFA events, and band and piano concerts by their mom's encouragement and attendance. The Frost family hosted foreign exchange FFA students, and she loved to prepare Minnesota meals and show them our great state.
Marilyn loved baking, which made Christmas time a treat. She collected cookbooks and loved grocery shopping. She was a voracious reader of biographies, and the local newspapers. She was an avid fan of her children and grandchildren's music programs, sports and activities. Every Sunday during football season, she was tuned into the Vikings, and rarely missed MN and Iowa boys and girls basketball, both on the high school and college level.
Survivors include Kristi Frost (Rick Moulton) of Kasson, Shari (Mark) Chamberlain and Michael (Linda) Frost, all of Pine Island. Grandchildren include Michael Chamberlain (Amy Bearbower) and their children Nevin Kingsley, Ashlyn and Caryn Miklas, Macy, Cassidy, Charlotte and Weston Chamberlain of rural Zumbrota; Cherise Chamberlain of Pine Island, Nick (Katie) Chamberlain of St Louis Park, and Matthew Frost of rural Pine Island. Siblings Gerald (Darlene) Bierbaum of Eyota, Avis (Vermon) James of New Orleans, LA, Roger (Dolores) Bierbaum of Huxley, Iowa, and sister in law Pat Dutcher of Tenstrike, MN, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, son Bob, sister, Bernice and brother in law Russ Heins.
