Marietta Lutjen, 93, of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Lake City Care Center. She was born October 7, 1917 in Lake Township, Wabasha County, to Fred and Clara (Henn) Dahling. She grew up in Lake City and attended schools in the Lake City area. She married Elmer Lutjen on October 4, 1938 in Mount Pleasant Township. Marietta was a homemaker and farmed with Elmer for many years, they moved to Lake City in 1976. Elmer passed away on June 26, 1996. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Marietta enjoyed playing cards, dancing, sewing and gardening.
Marietta is survived by her three daughters, Jean (Hans) Tauchnitz of Austin, MN, Mary (Kenneth) Hoops of Lake City, and Linda (David) Hosking of Zumbro Falls; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marietta is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lutjen; her parents; and two brothers, Dahlbert and Bill.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Daniel Kroll officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be from 5 -7 p.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials preferred to donor's choice.
