Marie Ida Frances Vomastek, age 92, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born on July 18, 1915, in Westcott, Wisconsin, to Frank and Laura (Brueshaber) Vomastek. She was baptized at St. Jacoby Church and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church on May 25, 1930. She attended Sterret School in Lake City. She moved to Frontenac where she worked for Rice's Grocery Store. She was a clerk at the Frontenac Post Office for twenty-two years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Frontenac, where she served as secretary for the Ladies Guild for ten years, and served as an election clerk for thirty years. She was a member of the Merry Mixers and the AFS Card Club. She enjoyed playing cards, baking and following the Minnesota Twins.
She is survived by many cousins. Her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Frontenac, with Reverend Christopher Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery, Lake City. Pallbearers will be Michael O'Brien, Steven O'Brien, Brad Wohlers, Patrick Wohlers, Brad Peterson and Howard Burfeind. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Flynn, Byron Wohlers, Richard O'Brien and Don Steffenhagen. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services Friday at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn chapel is handling arrangements.
