Marie A. Tomforde age 86 of Lake City passed away January 26, 2009 at the Lake City Nursing Home.
Marie was born September 12, 1922 in Mount Pleasant Township to John J. & Anna (Fitschen) Hinck. Marie married Emory Tomforde January 31, 1945 at St. Peters Belevidere Lutheran Church. They farmed in Florence Township for a short time. In 1958, they moved to Hay Creek Township in Goodhue County where they farmed for 50 years. They moved to Lake City in 1983. Emory passed away March 5, 2006. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City. Marie enjoyed doing needle work, playing cards and baking. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
Marie is survived by two sons, Richard (Heidi) Tomforde of Star Prairie, WI, Lyle (Helen) Tomforde of Frontenac; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother Alfred (Mary Ann) Hinck of Lake City. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sons, Robert & David; a sister Elsie Hinck and a brother Alvin Hinck.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 30, 2009 at 11:00 am at Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. Bruce Stam officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the services at the church.
