Marie Solveig Malvick, 95, of Eden Prairie, formerly of Red Wing, died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Castle Ridge Care Center in Eden Prairie. She was born on May 25, 1916 in Red Wing to Sivert and Julia (Welvang) Malvick. She graduated in 1935 from Central High School in Red Wing. She worked at Red Wing Pottery and Daley Nursing Home for a number of years and then for the St. James Hotel and Vogel family as a housekeeper. Since September 2001 she has resided at Castle Ridge Assisted Living and Care Center. She was a member of United Lutheran Church where she was active in the quilting group. She enjoyed many things including, reading, making afaghans and walking.
Survivors include one niece, Sylvia (Paul) Wiens of Eden Prairie; two grand nieces, Melissa Wiens of Romania and Michelle Wiens of Bloomington; two grand nephews, Eric (Julie) Wiens of Longmont, Colo. and their three children and Brant (Katie) Wiens of China and their three children. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Arnold.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Eric Wiens officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service
