Marie Harris, 92, of Rochester, and formerly of Tomah, Wisconsin, died Wednesday April 1, 2015 at Madonna Towers in Rochester. A memorial service for Marie will be held Saturday April 4th at 1:00 PM at the chapel at Madonna Towers in Rochester. Dr. Joe O'Toole will officiate. Burial of her cremated remains will occur at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah, Wisconsin.
Marie Margaret Hale was born November 15, 1922 near Elroy, Wisconsin to Harold and Eliza (nee Kastner) Hale. Raised in the Juneau County area, she was a graduate of Elroy High School. She married Donald B. Harris in 1947 in Mauston, Wisconsin. Don was a gemologist, and he owned and operated a jewelry store in Tomah, where Marie also worked. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, and was active in Tomah's local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and the Shakesepeare Club.
She is survived by her sons, Craig (Andrea) Harris of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Cameron (Ann) Harris of Rochester, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Joshua) Burgess, Elizabeth Harris, Marisa Harris, Joshua Harris-Belter, and Megan Harris-Belter; two great-grandchildren, Marek and Colten Burgess. Also surviving is her brother Richard Hale of Mauston, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; a son Scott; a granddaughter Arianna; and a sister in infancy.
