OBITUARY: Marian L. Sigrist

Memorial services for Marian L. Sigrist will be at 2 PM on Friday, December 7, 2007 at Mahn Family Funeral Home Mahler Chapel in Pine Island. Pastor Deanna Woodward will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday.

Marian age 80, of rural Pine Island died in her sleep on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at her residence. She was born Marian Lucille Carney on December 25, 1926, in Mantorville, MN, to James and Amelia (Schwieman) Carney. Marian attended Milton School, Milton Township, Dodge County, MN and on March 2, 1945, she married Allen Douglas Sigrist, in Mazeppa. The couple farmed in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, MN and Marian also worked as a waitress and cook for Tom's Café, the Rainbow Café and Pine Haven Care Center, all in Pine Island, MN. She also worked at the Golden Fox, rural Zumbrota. The couple retired from farming in 1984, Marian retired in 1995 and Allen died on June 20, 2006. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, flowers, bird watching and baking. She was a very giving person, who always thought of others before herself. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Marian is survived by one daughter, Theresa (Erwin) Poncelet, of Pine Island; two sons: Doug (Margaret) Sigrist, of Pine Island, and Duane (Patricia) Sigrist, of Maple Grove, MN; two grandsons; three granddaughters; two sisters: Florence Fellenz, of Red Wing, and Dorothy Zelinske, of Kasson. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
