Red Wing

Marian Dolores Nelson, 95, of Red Wing, died Sunday, April 6, 2025, at her home at Deer Crest Senior Living, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 30, 1930, in Red Wing, to Elmer and Mildred (Diercks) Siewert. She attended Burnside School, where she was given the name Skip, and also attended Red Wing Central High School. On August 4, 1947, she was united in marriage to Dallas F. Watson in Nashua, IA. They farmed in Lake City area until moving to Featherstone Township in 1954. Marian worked at Jostens for many years until her retirement. Dallas preceded her in death in 1976. On June 30, 1983, she was united in marriage to Donald A. Nelson. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 Auxiliary. Marian enjoyed traveling, fishing and genealogy, especially local history and was the family historian. Throughout her married life she, along with her husband, Dallas and later husband, Don, participated in a local card club. You would also find them attending auctions looking for Red Wing Pottery, oil lamps, salt dips and Red Wing postcards. Her family meant a lot to her and she always looked forward to being with them.

Marian is survived by three children, Gene Watson, Dale (Lan Pham) Watson and Gloria (Gene Dennis) Watson; son-in-law, Richard Jacobson; four grandchildren, Sara (Johnie) Parker, Scott (Shelly) Jacobson, Cara (Joe Matthews) O’Connor and Erin O’Connor; seven great grandchildren; sister, Katherine (Merrill) Bjorngaard; nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Dallas Watson and Donald Nelson; daughter, Kathy Jacobson; grandson, Brian Jacobson; sister, Ardyce Cook and brother, Virgil Siewert.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing with Reverend Quinlan Koch officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery.
