Marian Mortenson age 93 of Lake City passed away, Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Lake City Nursing Home.
Marian was born April 27, 1914 in Tamarack, WI to Julius & Mathilda (Swenson) Nelson. Marian grew up in North Branch, WI. She married Douglas Mortenson June 4, 1941 at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church Parsonage in North Branch. She lived in Eau Claire, WI where she worked at two defense plants while her husband served in the Army during WWII. They then moved to Ackley, IA where they lived for 20 years, after that they moved to Vinton, IA and Osseo, WI. Her husband Douglas passed away in 1987. In 2002 Marian moved to Lake City. She was a member of the Osseo United Church of Christ.
Marian is survived by two sons, John (Lori) of Lake City, Mark (Jill) of Cedar Falls, IA; three grandchildren, Amy (Greg) Pitts of Portland, OR, Cody Mortenson of Lake City, Heather (Charles) Plaetz of Zumbrota; three brothers, Raymond (Marge) Nelson of Beloit, WI, Walter Nelson of Beloit, WI, Joe (Georgia) Nelson of Pleasantville, WI; She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers, Martin, Alvin, Lawrence, Thomas, Rueban, Victor; three sisters, Evelyn Anderson, Inga Lind, Elaine Nysven.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 10:30 am at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Rev. Darren Paulson officiating. Burial will be at in the spring at the Osseo cemetery. Friends may call one hour before the services at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City.
