Marian R. Lemaster

Marian R. Lemaster, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Lake City Care Center.

She was born May 27, 1918, to Charles and Luanna (Huffman) REID near Nisland, S.D. Upon graduating Valedictorian of Nisland High School in 1936, Marian attended Mankato Commercial College and graduated in 1938.

Marian married Philip GOSSARD, of Mankato, in 1939. They had two children, Sandra and Scott. In 1943, Marian and the children returned to Belle Fourche, S.D., while Phil served in the Marine Corps during World War II. Upon his discharge in 1945, they made Belle Fourche home until Phil's death in 1968.

Marian was employed at Black Hills Clay Products until 1973, then continued her career as Executive Secretary at the Black Hills Passion Play until her retirement at age 80 in 1998. Upon her husband Gordon's death in 2003, Marian moved to Lake City to be near her daughter, Sandra.

Marian is survived by daughter, Sandra Gisslen of Lake City; Sandra's children: Robert, Richard and Rebecca Buck, Kristen Flanigan, Marylee Oleson, Melissa Hames, Judge Gisslen and Reid Gisslen; Scott's children, Sean and Luke GOSSARD; 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Phil GOSSARD, Vince Burk and Gordon Lemaster; her son, Scott; stepson, Alan GOSSARD; grandson, Jeffrey GOSSARD; two brothers, three sisters and her parents.

Services will be at a later date and memorials may be sent to Macular Degeneration Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
