Marian Goudy

Marian Anna Catherine Goudy, 88, of Red Wing, died Monday at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born on February 8, 1920, in Red Wing to James and Mary (Thumann) Wood. She attended Red Wing Schools and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1938. On August 20, 1938, she was married to Lavern (Bob) Goudy of Cannon Falls at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. The family moved to Red Wing in 1941 until 1957 when they moved to the Twin Cities. Lavern died in 1987. In 1994 she moved back to Red Wing. For two years she lived at Loving Residence and for the past year she has been a resident of the Fairview Seminary Home. She was active for many years in the Auxiliary of the Gideons International, serving as state officer, including several years as state president. For 25 years she volunteered at Midway and Mounds Park Hospitals in St. Paul. She also taught child evangelism classes and release time in the Twin Cities. She was an active member of the First Calvary Baptist Church in Inver Grove Heights. She enjoyed reading the Bible and teaching the importance of it to young children.

Survivors include one daughter, Faye (Edward) Olson of Bethesda, Maryland; two sons, Robert (Ruth) and Brad (Diane) Goudy both of Red Wing; seven grandchildren, Susan Harlander, Gregg Goudy, Barbara Tesdall, Tonja Olson, Kerri Olson, Linnea Olson-Schwartz and Jason Goudy; eleven great grandchildren, Jessica and Kaitlyn Harlander, Joshua, Brooke and Abby Tesdall, Natalie, Nicole and Claire Guion, Sonia and Nicholas "Nico" Eckstein and Anya Goudy; nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Delores Hodgkins; one brother, Floyd Wood and one grandson, Douglas Olson.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Calvary Baptist Church in Inver Grove Heights with Rev. Mike VerWay officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Pallbearers will be Gregg and Jason Goudy, John Harlander, Mark Tesdall, John Guion and Todd Schwartz. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
