Margy K. Filson, age 88 of Red Wing, died Saturday August 22, 2020 at her home. She was born September 28, 1931 in Faribault, to Fred and Hattie (Meyer) Kuhlman. She graduated from Faribault High School and then attended the University of MN. On August 20, 1955 she married Thomas Filson. Tom's teaching career moved them to several places, including Nebraska, Illinois and Michigan. After Tom's retirement, they lived in California to care for his mother and in 2004 they moved to Minnesota and settled in Red Wing. Margy never worked outside of the home, but volunteered in several of the communities where she lived. She was very well read in all different subjects and kept up on politics and current events. She loved her garden where she grew fresh veggies and flowers. She was also an excellent cook, known for her mince meat pie she made from scratch. Margy was a member at First Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jan (Tom) Rowekamp, Mary Kuhlman, Dean (Cyndy) Kuhlman, Gene (Roxann) Schroeder, David (Michelle) Schroeder; many grand and great grand nieces and nephews; dear friend Silvey Barge; and her cat Maisie. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; brother, Wilbert; sister, Berniece.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020 at First Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior. Arrangements are being handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to the Hope Coalition, PO Box 247, Red Wing, MN 55066.
