Margie K. Lohmann, age 83, of Zumbrota died Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Zumbrota Health Services.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the United Redeemer Lutheran Church, Zumbrota with the Reverend Tom Issacson officiating. The visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 9 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery.

Margie Kathryn Oelkers was born in Red Wing on December 10, 1926 to Ernest and Gertrude (nee Haas) Oelkers. She graduated from Mazeppa High School and continued on to graduate from St. Cloud State University with a degree in teaching. After graduation she taught in a country school, Goodhue, Zumbrota, and Pine Island area schools. On October 4, 1948 Margie married Harvey Lohmann in Mazeppa. They lived in Zumbrota where they bought the Southside Grocery Store. The couple later returned to farming in Roscoe and Minneola townships. Harvey along with Alden Schliep built Evergreen Lanes in Zumbrota where it was common to see Margie and their children working. Margie returned to full-time teaching and later retired from Pine Island High School after 20 plus years. After retirement Harvey and Margie enjoyed spending many winters in Arizona. On July 1, 2005 Harvey preceded Margie in death after 56 years of marriage. Margie enjoyed golfing, reading, crossword puzzles, fishing, playing bridge and spending time with her family.

Margie is survived by her four children, Judy (Dean) Reidt of Cottage Grove, Jean (Mike) French of Gypsum, CO, Jim (Lee Ann) Lohmann of Mazeppa, and Joyce (Bruce) Aarsvold of St Peter; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Marge) Oelkers of Garrison; one sister, Angie (Glenn) Dwelle of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Gertrude and her husband, Harvey.
