Margaret Ruth Von Bargen, age 91 of Red Wing, died Saturday, October 2, 2010, in the presence of her family, at Fairview Seminary Home. She was born on January 17, 1919 in Red Wing to Gustav and Esther Clauson. She attended school in Red Wing. On January 8, 1938 she married Lavern C. Von Bargen. She worked at Red Wing Pottery for a number of years, and also was a seamstress sewing wedding dresses and gowns. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed scenic drives, spending time with grandchildren, traveling, and watching the Minnesota Twins.
She is survived by one son Larry (Julie) Von Bargen of Red Wing, six grandchildren Todd (Kelly) Von Bargen, Tracey (Kim) Von Bargen, Gina Schorn, Annetta (Russell) Smith, Tim Von Bargen, and Joy (Gary) Hinton, two step-grandchildren Jodie Chaves, and John Simanski, twelve great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lavern on June 12, 1987, one daughter Myrna Gossett on March 26, 1992, and two sisters Eleanor Gerken, and Adeline Clauson.
Funeral will be at 11 am on Friday October 8, 2010 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Loren Lucht officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Russell Smith, Gary Hinton, Todd Von Bargen, Tracey Von Bargen, and Tim Von Bargen. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the church or American Heart Association.
