Gretl Kosec, 72, Red Wing, died peacefully Friday, March 26, 2010, surrounded by her family. Gretl was born August 30, 1937 in Illertissen, Germany, the daughter of Franz and Anna (Bosl) Wiesbauer. She spent her childhood traveling through the Bavarian Alps while her father, an artist, painted the picturesque scenes. Gretl was very proud of her German heritage and enjoyed sharing those traditions with her family. In 1958 she married Thomas Kosec in Germany and together they raised four beautiful children. She loved the beauty of nature and especially enjoyed making cards from the flowers grown in her garden, which she loved giving to people to bring sunshine into their lives. Her greatest asset was her ability to share herself with her family and everyone she met.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas of Red Wing; four children: John (Patty) Kosec of Hastings, Dodie (Michael) Harris of Red Wing, Robert Kosec of Prescott and Thomas A. Kosec of Cushing, MN; seven grandchildren: Jacob and Nicole Kosec, Franz and Krisitanna Harris, Wesley, Jessi and Cody Kosec; three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Jonathan Harris.

Tuesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, and on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Minnesota.
