Margaret Elise Wilson, 96, of Red Wing, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Deercrest Memory Care. She was born March 10, 1915, in Montevideo, Minnesota, to Martin and Helga (Nokleby) Paulson. She attended Winona State Teachers College. On July 13, 1938, she married Wilfred Raymond Wilson from Kettle River, Minnesota. They lived in Minneapolis until 1944 when they moved to Red Wing. Margaret was active in Sons of Norway, Goodhue County Historical Society, Hedin-Hartnagel Fund, Girl Scout Council, Art History Club and United Lutheran Church Sunday School. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was well known for her baking skills.
She is survived by a sister, Elsie Roder of Montevideo; children, Carolyn Wilson Anderson of Red Wing, Martin (Gretchen) Wilson of Wabasha, Robert (Sue Ryan) Wilson of Red Wing, George Wilson of Thailand and Michael (Jeannette) Wilson of Red Wing; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilfred, a brother, Paul Paulson and her parents.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Friday at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Randall Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and also for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Goodhue County Historical Society or Anderson Center.
