Margaret "Peggy" Rowland

Peggy Rowland, 63, of Red Wing, died October 17, 2017 at St. Crispin Living Community - Seminary Home. She was born October 4, 1954 to Lee and Ferne (Stumpf) Rowland in Red Wing. During the summer following first grade, Peggy suffered a brain infection which left her unable to live safely in a family setting. She lived in various locations in Faribault, Rochester and Zumbrota before settling in a REM group home in Red Wing. She attended adult day services at Pro-Act in Zumbrota for 23 years. She loved coffee, music, dogs, going on outings, wearing nail polish and fancy "bling," relaxing in her recliner and enjoying dessert. She especially loved visits from her parents and siblings and hanging out with her REM and Pro-Act family.
Peggy is survived by her mother, Ferne Rowland of Bloomington; sister, Kathryn (Winston) Cahill of Richfield; brothers, Blaine (Nancy) of St. Paul and Randy of Eden Prairie; nieces, Leigh (Keith) Grauman of Minneapolis and Julia Rowland of Louisville, Kentucky.
She is preceded in death by her father.
Peggy's family would like to thank the dedicated staff members at REM, Pro-Act and Goodhue County Social Services for providing Peggy with a secure and satisfying life, as well as the caring staff at St. Crispin's and Mayo Hospice for making Peggy's final days comfortable.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Clay Oglesbee officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family burial took place at Hope Cemetery in Featherstone Township. Memorials are preferred to Pro-Act, Hope Cemetery or First United Methodist Church in Red Wing. Online condolences maybe left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
