Margaret M. Reding age 85 of Mazeppa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Zumbrota Health Services. A memorial mass is scheduled for Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 26, 2010 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Monday one hour prior to the mass at the church. Following Margaret's wishes her body was donated to Mayo Clinic Anatomy Department.
Margaret Marian Adler was born on April 17, 1925 in Pine Island, MN to August and Margretha (nee Augustine) Adler. She grew up in the Pine Island area and graduated from Pine island High School as salutatorian in 1943. Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses. She married Rollo Horsman and they later divorced. On July 12, 1958 she married Duane Reding. They made their home in Pine Island for several years. In 1960 they moved to Mazeppa and owned and operated Reding's Night Club. They ran the night club until selling the business in 1966. Margaret continued to work as a bookkeeper for several companies and raised her family in Mazeppa. Margaret was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Swanson - Owens VFW Post #9647 Auxiliary in Oronoco and American Legion Post #588 Auxiliary in Mazeppa. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing and visiting with friends. Margaret is survived by her husband Duane "Dewey" Reding of Mazeppa, sons; Ronald (Janice) Horsman of Zumbrota and Michael (DeAnn) Horsman of Mazeppa, daughter; Jeanette (Jim) Strauss of Bellechester, grandchildren; Marie Horsman, Chad (Andrea) Horsman, Kristine (Dustin) Luhman, Megan Horsman, Luke (Nicole) Horsman, Daniel (Ann) Strauss, Jeffrey Strauss, Steven Strauss and Brian Strauss, great grandchildren; Jackae, Jayden and Elianna Yarbrough, Ayden Horsman, Havin Horsman and Victoria Luhman, sisters; Pauline Streiff of Fort Ripley and Peggy Converse of Brainerd and her pet dog "Lady". Margaret was preceded in death by her children; Patty and Danny, and siblings, Arthur Adler, Alma Grendahl, Frances Biese and Sam Adler.
